......stories that endure......

Meow!

I'm Henrietta

born September 29th 2006, a Libran brown burmese

Chapter1: Kittenhood

I've come to live with Helen and David

and to help them get over the loss of Monty,
I'm doing everything differently from my predecessor — like

drinking from the rainwater dipper...

singing along with the TV...

finishing up the leg of lamb...

.

I've got them twisted around my paw. I'm allowed to sleep on the sofa

and sit on the window ledge to look at the birds

I have my jobs to do — like

checking the dishwasher...

and the frig...

helping with the books...

defending the bath ...

watching the chooks...

beating up the cushion...

napping with Warm Teddy.

Chapter 2: The Wide World Outside

I've discovered how to climb!

Mind you, it can be a bit tricky getting down...
Daisy had to climb up and rescue me (twice)

which is probably why David is monitoring me...

but...

I'm down in time for a game of bubbles with Hannah and Daisy.

It's fun playing with them after school.

We made a cake!

I helped Daisy with homework

and rearranged the toothpicks

Chapter 3: Arranging Life to Suit Me

Success! I sleep in their bed.
They don't like me starting the day at 5am though...

I keep on looking for the perfect place for a daytime nap...

too noisy...

too slippery...

too green...

aaahh... just right!

Chapter 4: Growing Up

Easter wasn't fun - I'm still a bit delicate after my operation.

Jon's snapper looks good
- perhaps grilled with a creamy sauce??

These fellows look more my size!
If I drink enough water I'll get sushi...

Chapter 5: Alone

They went away and left me for 4 weeks!
A cat may look at a queen but where's London?
Thank goodness Barbara came to keep me company...

I've put a spell on the suitcases so they never come out of the wardrobe again.

I hope they take the hint that I really need to get outdoors more!

They've had their 40th wedding anniversary!
I didn't get invited to the party -
the weather was terrible so I was much better off at home.
They gave me some balloons to play with but I hate it when they pop...

Chapter 6: More Outdoor Activities

Climbing trees is my favourite thing!

I really like the gingko...

...but why are the leaves yellow?

...and where have they all gone?

How nice of them to build me a trampoline!
and with a gangplank for fast escape!

Humans are strange.

I understand what this room is for and that's what I'm doing...

But why can't they cover things with dirt like cats do?

Chapter 7
Locked in Prison

All I did was look inside the garage across the road and next thing I knew the door was slammed shut and I was locked inside!
I cried and cried and I could hear Helen outside calling my name but she didn't hear me.
Two nights I was locked in there and then I heard them talking so I yelled my loudest until they heard me and came to my rescue.

It was lovely to get home and have something to eat and drink and lots of patting.
Now I won't let them out of my sight.

Next Chapter:

Let's all relax and take time to smell the flowers.

We've got a good show of tulips this year.

This is my friend M'sasa who lives over the back fence.

Chapter 9
It's my birthday

They've made me a cake! A fish-cake!

I singed my whiskers on the candle...

I'm still climbing.
And the tree is getting some leaves again.

We went in the forest and I found
the best branch of pine cones.

I've found a really good place for a nap.
I think I'm safe here because she doesn't do ironing very much.

Chapter 10
Such a Lot to Look At!

We've had a lot of rain lately —
I wonder what's in here?

She won this at the Melbourne Cup.
I wonder if it's good to eat?

We go for a walk up the street every night

What's Daisy doing up my walnut tree?

This was a good spot for a nap -until she wanted to wash her hands...

I'll have to get rid of this plug for comfort.

That's better!
Now I can relax.

Chapter 11
I'm practising to be a mighty hunter

I'm starting small with lizards

...up high with pesky flies and...

down low with David's crayfish

Yummy crunchy cheddar shapes!
Party!

Perhaps I could intercept the ball in the mid-field...
or perhaps that ball will intercept me.

My first mouse!

I brought it in to show them.
They weren't very appreciative -
so I hid it!

M'sasa has come to play again
(P.S. they haven't found the mouse yet)

He sneaks up on a girl...

I can keep him interested,

even ignore him

but I miss him when he goes home.

The Christmas Monsters say they're going to eat me!
(I think it's really Daisy and Dylan)

The Christmas Elf
gave me a present.

But I'd sooner mess around outside
with M'sasa.

We just like to hang out.

Chapter 12
Summertime

Here I am up on the sail.
I like to bounce around and watch the birds.

Then I drop by the kitchen for a bit of lunch.

On these 41' days it's hard to find a nice quiet cool place to sleep...

There are too many cats here.
Who is this interloper?

This is a peaceful spot.

Someone's been shopping— for MEAT.

This is my friend Green: we play together.
He is very sneaky and hides under the bed.

Here is someone pretending to be Green
- but I'm not fooled.

This is David and me.

We're training

...me to jump

...and I love it!

I'm always happy to learn new cat skills
(they don't know I can read)

David is still able to play with me...

even with his arm in a sling.

This is definitely the best place to sleep...

please DO NOT DISTURB

Ever since I was a kitten I've had fun reaching up on Helen's noticeboard and pulling out the drawing pins with my teeth.

She thinks I'm going to eat them but it's much more satisfying to drop them into the printer—at least until one pin went through the printer and came out all flat.
The the printer wouldn't work and she had to buy a new one.

So I gave up drawing pins—almost—just one last little successful throw...and the new printer had to go off to be serviced.

NOW LOOK WHAT'S HAPPENED!

She's put shiny stuff over the noticeboard and I can't get at the drawing pins any more!

I am seriously offended!

ANOTHER NEW PRINTER!

I don't think it's my fault this time...
This one is nice and flat to sit on.

  Here I am -
peering through Pierre de Ronsard.

Helen had her photo taken by The Border Watch photographer - to advertise the book sale.

I don't think he saw me in my new sleeping place.

I wonder if I'll be in the newspaper?

(I wasn't.
They cut me off.)

Never mind...

I can look down on everyone from the camellia

What is he doing standing around outside in his new socks?

I know - she's taking photos for her
knitting blog:

http://damerosehayknitting.blogspot.com/

I'm not so keen on this knitting:

it takes up all the space on her lap and I'm not allowed to bite the wool.
(Mostly I restrain myself.)

This is a new way to get to Roof World.
Usually I climb the fence then jump onto the roof.

We're pruning the wisteria
It's fun!

OOPS!

This is a bit embarrassing.

I jumped onto a book and it tipped me into the wastepaper bin.

Look at the book's title...

They went away and left me - again.
They know I get lonely so they arranged for Jon to come for a week and then Graham for two weeks.
It's just as well that Graham understands a girl likes her regular brushing, some basking in the sun and a beard to snuggle up to.

I'm into multi-basking - well someone has to do it.

" 'Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the house
Not a creature was stirring -
Not even a mouse..."

They wouldn't dare stir around my house!

I had a visit from some new friends:
Isabella and Tilly with their mother, all the way from Far North Queensland.
I can take all that petting.
